Position Summary:
The Accounting Assistant supports accounting and administrative functions for K&L Recycling by performing daily accounting, reporting, and clerical duties. This role supports banking, accounts payable, reporting, and recordkeeping activities while maintaining accuracy, internal controls, and confidentiality.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepare incoming mill checks, wires, and ACH deposits and process payments accordingly.
- Prepare and issue checks and electronic payments as required. AP
- Pay and reconcile all Company credit card accounts, including Amex, Fleet One, and similar programs.
- Code and reconcile monthly credit card statements.
- Request, collect, and maintain updated W-9 and 1099 documentation for new and existing vendors.
- Post freight to be paid and coordinate with Accounting and Operations as needed.
- Assemble, mail, scan, and file accounts payable documentation.
- Order and maintain office supplies.
- Employee appreciation.
- Perform all duties with urgency and accuracy.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all financial, personnel, and Company information.
EOS / Ninety Participation:
- Participate in the Company’s Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) using the Ninety platform. This includes attending required meetings, completing assigned to-dos, maintaining accountability, and supporting Company goals and priorities.
Safety & PPE:
- Comply with, monitor, and enforce Company safety policies and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements when performing job duties or visiting Metal Recycling Facilities.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; additional accounting or administrative education preferred.
- Prior experience in accounting, banking, or administrative support roles required.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and internal controls.
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office/Excel or similar software.
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Professional demeanor with strong ethical standards.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods while working at a desk or computer.
- Ability to work with urgency and maintain a fast pace.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Ability to move throughout office and facility environments as needed.
Driving & Record Reporting:
- If operating a Company vehicle or personal vehicle for Company business, employees must maintain an acceptable driving record and immediately report any changes in driving status, citations, or license restrictions.
